Lorelai Corbett

Ever since I was in kindergarten I planned on being a marine biologist and had my life all planned out. However, when I was twelve my dad and I were watching the planes at the Farmingdale airport from the Stew Leonard’s parking lot and at that moment I realized I wanted to work in the aviation field, somehow. I did not have any family in the aviation field but my parents pushed very hard to get me into the Boces Aviation program so I could pursue my passion. For two years I have been attending Nassau Boces and participated in the Aviation Operations class. Over these past two years I have studied; FAA rules and regulations, flight training, meteorology, and other aviation topics. While attending Boces my love and passion for aviation has grown and I realized I want to study aviation management in college. Even though when I fly it feels amazing and unreal, I would have more fun in the business and logistics portion. Although people who pursue aviation are mainly men, I feel that with everything I have learned I am ready to prove to myself and everyone else, aviation careers are not just for men. In the fall of 2023 I will be attending Jacksonville University with a major in aviation management.
