Mid Island Air – Cool Airplane Birthday Parties and AeroCamp

Did you know that one of the most unique and cool activities for kids is right here in our local airports? Mid Island Air, a family owned business founded in 1946, offers flight school, aircraft rentals sales, charters, services and seminars. But wait, there’s more!  Mid Island Air is a member of the Flight School Association of North America, and as a participating flight school they offer the Aero Camp and Aero Party. They strive to give kids a well rounded experience including fun classroom training and super cool tours of the control tower, fire rescue operation and Suffolk PD helicopter medi-vac unit.

AeroParty

Planning a Planes theme party?  Have a child who just loves airplanes and flying?  Throw an AeroParty!!!!  AeroParty offers parties for small groups of all ages. It is a fun aviation experience for all attendees. Guests will receive  an introduction to aviation, sit in a plane, fly a flight simulator, and tour a variety of aircraft. Best yet, you can schedule a time to fly a real plane!  This unique party experience is sure to be the party of the year for all guests.

All parties are 2 hours and include paper goods, an introduction to aviation talk, an airplane tour in a corporate hangar, attendees are able to sit in the cockpit, they build and fly a paper glider, invitations, pizza, cake, drinks, favors, discount coupon for future introductory flight lesson, discount coupon for future Basic Aero Camp participation, and a souvenir group photo.

For an additional fee you can add a Redbird simulator flight (limited to party of 8 or less), 5 x 7 framed photo of host child in airplane cockpit, and a 1/4 sheet ice cream cake with host child photo (supplied by parent).

AeroCamp

AeroCamp is a unique camp experience which allows its campers an opportunity to explore the world of aviation and aerospace. Campers will learn about the dynamics of airplanes and flight, careers in the aerospace industry and even fly an airplane. Campers also go on field trips to further there education on the aerospace industry.

There are two camp options including AeroCamp Basic and AeroCamp Advanced. AeroCamp Basic is for 6th-8th graders and is an entry-level camp. Each camper receives a simulator and aircraft flight. AeroCamp Advanced is for students in grades 9-12. In this camp each student receives multiple simulators and flight lessons.

All students in both camps will receive a logbook, First Flight Certificate, Aero Camp Tee Shirt, a Six month subscription to AOPA’s Flight Training Magazine, an Aero Camp Graduation Certificate and a $50.00 gift certificate off a future Introductory Flight Lesson.
